In celebration of World Arabic Language Day, Al-Salam Children’s Library, affiliated with the Misr Society for Culture and Community Development, organized an interactive cultural and educational workshop aimed at instilling a love for the Arabic language in children and strengthening their connection to their cultural identity, with a large participation of young library visitors.
The workshop was led by Ms. Ola Gamal El-Din, Senior Program Specialist at the library, who guided the children on an educational journey through the realms of the Arabic language, showcasing the latest books and new additions to the library’s collection.
The session highlighted the significance of Arabic as one of the oldest and most important living languages in the world, emphasizing its greatness derived from the revelation of the Qur’an, its historical role as a bridge for knowledge, culture, and civilization through the ages, and its ability to adapt to modern sciences and contemporary developments.
The workshop also included an engaging presentation on the evolution of the Arabic language and its contribution to the transmission of global knowledge. Children actively participated by asking questions and exploring the new books, reflecting their enthusiasm for reading and pride in their mother tongue.
Ms. Ifraj El-Tahamy, Director of Al-Salam Children’s Library, affirmed the library’s commitment to its mission, stating: "Celebrating the Arabic language is not just a passing occasion; it is an approach through which we aim to strengthen children’s relationship with books and nurture an aware generation that values its linguistic roots, contributing to the formation of an enlightened and culturally aware Egyptian identity."
