In celebration of World Arabic Language Day, the Al-Zeitoun Special Needs Children Center, affiliated with the Misr Society for Culture and Community Development, organized a distinctive educational activity under the supervision of Ms. Rania Lasheen, a vocational training teacher.
The activity aimed to introduce students to the importance and richness of the Arabic language in a simple and engaging way, encouraging pride in their mother tongue. Innovative teaching aids were used, including specially designed educational crowns and a learning cube decorated with Arabic letters. Each side of the cube featured a simplified fact, accompanied by colorful images of prominent figures who contributed to the Arabic language and heritage.
Students were introduced to several iconic Arabic figures, including:
Al-Mutanabbi: One of the greatest poets of the Abbasid era, known for his pride and wisdom.
Al-Jahiz: Renowned Abbasid literary scholar and author of Al-Bayan wa al-Tabyin and Al-Hayawan.
Al-Khalil ibn Ahmad al-Farahidi: Founder of Arabic prosody and compiler of the first Arabic dictionary, Kitab al-‘Ayn.
Hatim al-Ta’i: Pre-Islamic poet famed for generosity and nobility.
The activity also highlighted the status of Arabic as the language of the Qur’an and the unique “Language of the Dhad,” fostering a sense of pride and belonging to Arab identity while demonstrating the language’s richness in vocabulary, meanings, and structures.
This hands-on, visually engaging approach simplified linguistic and historical concepts, helping students enhance their language skills, attention, participation, and interaction during the lesson.
Ms. Enas Fadlallah, Director of the Center, stated: "We always strive to provide innovative educational activities suitable for our children with special needs. Celebrating Arabic Language Day is a celebration of our culture, history, and values. We will continue supporting such purposeful activities that combine learning and fun, helping develop our children’s personalities and abilities."
